Markus Babbel’s criticism of Uli Hoeneß does not like Sepp Maier. He divides Babbel – and asks Lothar Matthäus a question.
The discussion about Uli Hoeneß does not subside – now Sepp Maier has also switched on. The former national goalkeeper defended the honorary president of FC Bayern against attacks by former players.
In conversation with “Sport1”, Maier reacted to statements by Markus Babbel, who described Hoeneß as “the biggest problem of FC Bayern”. For Maier, such words are unacceptable: “This disrespect. First of all, the Markus Babbel should consider what he owes FC Bayern at all,” said the 80-year-old. “It’s not just disrespectful, that’s just stupid.”
The repeated criticism of Lothar Matthäus an Hoeneß is also incomprehensible in Maier. He said about the TV expert that this played “the same record” for decades-that bored him. “If you say you take Uli ‘no longer seriously’ – why do you constantly talk about him?”
Previously, Matthäus had publicly speculated about a possible high transfer for Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, whereupon Hoeneß countered that the former Bayern professional “had no more cups in the closet”. Markus Babbel, on the other hand, clearly stood behind Matthew.
