FC Bayern: Rummenigge names Süle successor

FC Bayern has to fill Niklas Süle’s squad position for the new season. According to ex-national player Michael Rummenigge, there are several options. In his opinion, a Gladbach duo is not good enough for the record champions.

Several names have been circulating around FC Bayern for weeks that could replace Niklas Süle after his definite departure in the summer.

“So far, four candidates in particular have been named as potential Süle successors,” summarized Michael Rummenigge in his column for the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland”.

According to Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger, the brother of former CEO Karl-Heinz, two defenders on FC Bayern’s list who are currently employed by Chelsea. In Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria, two Gladbach professionals are also traded.

What all four have in common: Their contracts expire at the end of the season, so they would be available for FC Bayern free of charge.

Matthias Ginter “not a player for the level of FC Bayern”

Rummenigge advises FC Bayern, if at all, only to commit Rüdiger. He was “not really convinced” of Christensen, explained the former Bundesliga professional, and Ginter was also “not a player for Bayern’s level”.

Zakaria would also be “no more than a supplementary player” in Munich, Rummenigge suspected, and he also sees the Noch-Gladbacher “rather in central midfield”.

According to the 57-year-old, getting Zakaria for the control center would not be a particularly good plan either: “Here I would rather advise Bayern to extend Corentin Tolisso”. Tolisso’s contract also expires at the end of the season.

Ajax star a candidate for FC Bayern?

However, Rummenigge showed his former club another scenario: “I’ve been enthusiastic about a professional from Ajax Amsterdam for a long time: Noussair Mazraoui.” The 24-year-old recently announced that he did not want to extend his contract with the Dutch record champions, which also expired in the summer. According to Rummenigge, he is a suitable candidate for a move to Bayern.

The Moroccan feels more at home on the right wing, “but would still fit into Bayern’s prey scheme.” The possible plan: “Benjamin Pavard could then switch from the wing to the center and take over Süle’s place in the squad.”

Mazraoui “proved what he can do not least in the Champions League games against Borussia Dortmund”. Due to his age and the expiring contract, it is clear: “You have to get someone like that, but some clubs in the Premier League will certainly think so.”

Born in the Netherlands, Noussair Mazraoui is a twelve-time Moroccan international. He has worn the jersey of Ajax Amsterdam since he was young.
