After a lengthy contract poker, Alphonso Davies’s personality at FC Bayern actually seemed to have been clarified for the coming years. With the long-term contract extension until 2030, the Munich team wanted to permanently close the construction site on the left side of the defense. But now the trends seem to be going in a completely different direction. A sale of the Canadian suddenly seems to be no longer out of the question.
As the “kicker” reported, Alphonso Davies is still one of FC Bayern’s “possible sales candidates” despite his long-term working paper. The main reason for this is the 25-year-old’s ongoing injury problems, which are obviously being viewed increasingly critically internally.
Davies himself is said to have no interest in a move at the moment. That’s hardly surprising, as the full-back in Munich has one of the most lucrative contracts in the entire squad. According to consistent media reports, his basic salary is said to be between 15 and 20 million euros per year.
It is precisely these crazy sums that make a possible transfer extremely complicated and unlikely. Because even if Bayern were basically willing to talk if there was an attractive offer, there would probably only be very few clubs that could even afford the left-back.
According to “kicker”, those responsible at the German record champions are expecting that it will be “difficult to impossible” to find a potential buyer for the Canadian national player.
New rumors about City star Gvardiol
Financially strong clubs from Saudi Arabia are therefore considered to be realistic interested parties. The Canadian’s enormous salary demands would probably be best presented there, as the portal “football transfers” also speculated.
From a sporting perspective, Davies’ physical problems in particular have caused discussions on Säbener Strasse in the recent past. Since signing his contract in February 2025, the left-back has only played 16 Bundesliga games. The national player was repeatedly set back by muscle injuries and long absences.
Especially with a view to long-term planning, FC Bayern seems to be already examining possible alternatives. Rumors recently surfaced that the Munich team was meeting Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, among others and Josko Gvardiol from Manchester City.
