FC Bayern: New job for ex-professional Thorsten Fink

Once a professional at FC Bayern and HSV trainer, now head coach of the Latvian first division club Riga FC: Thorsten Fink has a new job.

“We are happy to announce that the 54-year-old German specialist Thorsten Fink has been appointed head coach of the” Riga Football Club “! Welcome to Riga, coach!”, Wrote the club in a message on its website.

No information was given on the terms of the contract.

Riga FC posted a clip on Twitter in which Fink was introduced as the new coach in the style of a gangster rap video. “That’s fantastic!” Wrote the capital club about it in German. The song “GTS BENZ” by Capital Bra serves as background music.

Ex-HSV trainer Torsten Fink has a lot of experience

Fink last coached the Japanese club Vissel Kobe from 2019 to September 2020. He previously worked at Grasshopper Club Zurich, Austria Vienna and Apoel Nicosia.

The ex-professional coached Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga from 2011 to 2013, after winning the double in Switzerland with FC Basel from July 2009 to October 2011 and then becoming Swiss champions again.

As a Bayern Munich player, Fink won the 2001 Champions League and four times German champion. Riga FC won three consecutive championships in Latvia between 2018 and 2020.

In the past season, however, it was only enough to place fourth in the league held after the calendar year. Football only plays a minor role in Latvia; hardly any fans come to league games.
