FC Bayern: Nagelsmann cautious about Mané – Pavard’s statements are no problem

Pavard’s statements “not dramatic”

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann was cautious about Sadio Mané’s chances of playing in the World Cup. The 30-year-old forward has been called up to the Senegalese national team’s squad for the tournament in Qatar despite his recent injury.

“In the end there is a medical situation and diagnosis in 10 days after the follow-up and then we will see what comes out,” said the 35-year-old on Friday. Mané suffered an injury to his right fibula head and will miss Saturday’s last Bundesliga game of the year at Schalke 04. Nagelsmann said he did not know where the follow-up examination for Africa’s footballer of the year would take place.

“In general, an early deployment after an injury is always critical. It’s clear that Senegal would like him to play,” said the coach. “If he has problems and can’t play, he can’t play. The medical things are then already above the sporting ones. ”The health of the player is more important, that is no different with Mané than with any other player. Senegal will play in a group with hosts Qatar, Ecuador and the Netherlands at the World Cup, which begins on November 20th. The Oranje team is the first opponent on November 21st.

Departure from Bayern? Nagelsmann finds Pavard’s thoughts “relatively normal”

Nagelsmann also reacted to right-back Benjamin Pavard’s considerations of a change. The 26-year-old Frenchman, with a contract until 2024, explained in an interview with the French sports newspaper “L’Équipe” that he was considering leaving the Bundesliga. “I only heard that. It’s relatively normal for a player with the contractual situation to keep thinking about changing clubs. It’s not the first time, it’s not that dramatic,” revealed the coach (quoted via “tz“).
