In view of FC Bayern’s defensive injury worries, coach Julian Nagelsmann is likely to plan with Tanguy Nianzou (19) from the start of the home game against Union Berlin on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.). “He has his great strength in defending, similar to (Dayot) Upamecano. He’s incredibly aggressive, has a very good winning mentality,” the 34-year-old said on Friday (quoted via “Image”).
“It’s about getting the rhythm. I don’t expect a player like Tanguy to be completely flawless for 90 minutes. It’s also difficult because he just doesn’t play enough for it. But his last game from the start against Benfica Lisbon (5-2 in the Champions League group stage; ed.) was outstanding. He’s welcome to show that again,” Nagelsmann continued.

PSG homegrown Nianzou moved from Paris to Munich on a free transfer in 2020 and has since played 22 competitive games for FCB for a total of 586 minutes. Against Union Berlin he gets the next opportunity to show himself after failures by Niklas Süle (26) and Benjamin Pavard (25). If the operating times remain manageable, there could be a temporary change in the summer.
Report: FC Bayern plans to loan center-back talent Nianzou
Like the portal “Football Transfers” wants to know, FC Bayern is said to be planning to loan the youngster. This project – explicitly without a purchase option – was agreed with Nianzou and wanted by all sides. There is said to be interest from “a dozen” clubs. The French defender’s contract at Säbener Straße runs until June 2024.
