“No killers today”: Neuer calls the problem against PSG

FC Bayern is eliminated from the Champions League after two intense duels against PSG. Manuel Neuer gives a reason.
The big turnaround didn’t happen: FC Bayern didn’t get more than a 1-1 draw in the semi-final second leg against PSG – too little after the 4-5 defeat the previous week. Manuel Neuer saw the biggest problem in the second duel in his own attack line.
“We weren’t killers on offense today. In the end we had the opportunity to win the game,” complained the goalkeeper on the DAZN microphone. A total of 18 shots brought the Munich team towards the PSG goal, but they often lacked precision or power. Harry Kane was only able to overcome goalkeeper Matvey Safonov deep into stoppage time.
“We didn’t have really great chances to score often,” admitted Neuer. But when his team did appear in a good position, a quality that PSG showed was missing. “They were killers. We needed that today. We were close to the final but couldn’t finish it.”
Konrad Laimer also judged it similarly. The Austrian made “a lot of shots and a lot of actions in the opponent’s penalty area”. But Bayern were missing something in the crucial areas: “We were a bit sloppy – not as good at finishing as we can be.”
Despite the problems in the second leg, Laimer “always had the feeling that we could turn things around”. Ultimately, however, it wasn’t enough. “It’s hard when you’re eliminated in a game like that. Over two games, it depends on the details at this level.”
