FC Bayern loses top scorer to Gladbach

Does FC Bayern lose one of its most successful youngsters? According to media reports, it could come to that. The profiteer is therefore Borussia Mönchengladbach.

As the TV channel “Sky” reports on Sunday, 19-year-old Grant-Leon Ranos is about to switch from Bayern to the foals. Nothing has been signed yet, but the deal is already at an advanced stage. There is already talk of a contract term of four years.

According to “Sky”, the transfer should be bagged before the last Bundesliga matchday. The driving force behind the deal is Gladbach manager Roland Virkus.

Other media also reported on the forthcoming change.

Should Ranos leave Bayern, the second team would lose their most successful goalscorer by far. With one game left before the end of the season, the 19-year-old has 20 goals after 37 games. In the club’s internal list of goalscorers, he is number one with a clear lead over Timo Kern (12). In the top scorer list of the Regionalliga Bayern, his haul is currently fourth place.

FC Bayern received no transfer fee

The German-Armenian already hinted at his potential in the 2021/22 season when he scored 11 goals in 17 games in the A-Junior Bundesliga.

Unlucky for Bayern: Ranos will leave the club for a free transfer. His contract expires at the end of the season. That should annoy head coach Holger Seitz in particular, who just a few days ago explicitly praised his striker and told “Sport1”: “He’s our best goalscorer, but he’s also very valuable for the team as a preparer.”

In addition to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Ranos was also recently associated with a move to second division side Hannover 96. The teenager had started his career with the Lower Saxony. Now it looks as if the Foals will thwart the plans of the 96ers and become the striker’s new sporting home.
