FC Bayern: Lewandowski surprised at Brazzo’s announcement

Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic from FC Bayern puts an end to an early farewell to top scorer Robert Lewandowski. But the world footballer himself does not seem to know the clear position of his employer at all.

At FC Bayern, the contracts of three leading players will expire in the summer of 2023: Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski. Especially in the case of the Polish world footballer, speculation is increasing that he could turn his back on Munich next summer.

If there is actually no extension, this would be the only time at which the German record champions would still collect an appropriate transfer fee.

For sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, however, the matter is crystal clear: “No,” the Bosnian replied unequivocally on “Sky” on Saturday evening when asked whether the world footballer would be let go with a lucrative offer in the summer: “Lewa is a very, very important one Part of our team. He’s on his way to – hopefully – taking our team to titles.”

Future at Bayern? Lewandowski is keeping a low profile

Robert Lewandowski, who led FC Bayern to the field against Eintracht Frankfurt with a blue and yellow captain’s armband in the absence of the injured Manuel Neuer, was told by “Sky” after the tight and hard-fought 1-0 (0-0) on his superior’s statement addressed. “I’m hearing that for the first time,” the 33-year-old replied freely.

When asked, the attacker could not be elicited any further details about his own future plans. “I’m very calm, I focus on my games. I know how football works and I’m always open, but the next game is important to me. The contract issue is a background issue,” said Lewandowski.

At FC Bayern, the personnel policy is actually to no longer issue long-term contracts to players of advanced footballing age. It remains to be seen to what extent the club will soften this orientation for Lewandowski, Neuer and Müller in the future.
