Kompany confirmed that the 38-year-old sustained the injury when he fouled Jeremie Frimpong in the cup game against Bayer Leverkusen. Neuer had cleared the opponent outside the box and was shown the red card for the first time in his career (17th). Peretz replaces Neuer
The captain of the German record champions did not take part in the final training session in Munich before Tuesday’s Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk due to rib problems.
