FC Bayern interested? RB Leipzig plan revealed with Christopher Nkunku

At FC Bayern, Christopher Nkunku is said to be one of the candidates to absorb a possible departure from Robert Lewandowski. But RB Leipzig is apparently working intensively behind the scenes on an extension with the service provider.

Christopher Nkunku is playing the best season of his football life. The 24-year-old Frenchman has scored 50 points in 47 competitive games for RB Leipzig in 2021/2022 – an impressive result. With the Saxons, Nkunku can also get the “double” from the DFB Cup and Europa League.

So it’s no wonder that numerous top international clubs, including – as “L’Equipe” recently wrote – FC Bayern are looking into signing the 1.75 meter tall offensive player.

Next RB Leipzig instead of FC Bayern and Co.?

According to “Bild”, RB’s chances of keeping the newcomer for at least one more season are good. Accordingly, the efforts of the many interested parties for Nkunku have not yet been concrete.

The wealthy clubs from the English Premier League should therefore (still) hesitate to really put together a transfer package of more than 80 million euros for the Leipzig star. Paris Saint-Germain is said to have not yet made a clear decision internally to bring the former youth player back.

With Nkunku’s advisor Pini Zahavi, the RB management had already discussed the general conditions of an extension of the contract, which runs until 2024, by one to two years at a meeting last week.

This is how RB Leipzig plans with Christopher Nkunku

Nkunku should then earn seven instead of three million euros a year in Leipzig. In addition, there should be an exit clause of a comparatively moderate 60 to 65 million euros that will take effect from 2023.

In the conversation with Zahavi, RB managing director Oliver Mintzlaff once again unequivocally stated that Nkunku was not for sale this summer, regardless of his contract situation “Picture”.

The club boss had recently emphasized this publicly. “Christopher Nkunku will also be our player in the coming season,” said Mintzlaff on “ARD”.
