The club World Cup is over for FC Bayern, the processing has just started. Musiala’s injury could help decisively.

The club World Cup has been history for FC Bayern since Saturday. Coach Vincent Kompany released his players three weeks after the marathon season before preparing for the new season. Sports board member Max Eberl said: “The team will go on vacation and I’ll work.” Working – he has to do that too. Because the early failure of the club World Cup, which was declared by the Munich team as the title mission, has provided Bayern some valuable knowledge. And above all, some weaknesses in the squad, which need to be remedied urgently.

At the latest the serious injury of Musialas should open the eyes to Bayern: the squad is simply not good enough. It takes more than only individual adjustments to really attack internationally.
The fact that Eberl sees it the same way could not necessarily be concluded from his statements, which he made immediately after the end in Atlanta. “We have the feeling when planning the squad that we don’t have to do that much,” said the 51-year-old in the stomach of the arena. Apart from individual adjustments, the squad is strong enough to be able to achieve the high goals. According to Eberl, one finally showed “against one of the best teams in the world, if not against the best, at eye level in an incredibly attractive way what this club can do”.
Eberl is wrong with that. He and Bayern are not allowed to be fooled. It would be a mistake. Yes, Bayern lasted well against PSG, and even after the violation of difference players Musiala. Ultimately, however, the Munich team did not manage to get Paris really seriously and in the form of gates. Even in the final minutes, this did not succeed – even not in excess of two red cards for PSG.
The quality drop in the squad also became clear during the injury -related substitutions. Gnabry is representative of several players in the squad, in whom the exorbitant high salary – in his case estimated more than 18 million euros per year – does not fit together at all with the level of performance. The upheaval of the Bayern squad that has been announced for two years is therefore long overdue and should not be postponed further.
