FC Bayern hesitates with Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz is considered one of the greatest talents in German football. No wonder that FC Bayern, among others, is repeatedly associated with the youngster from Bayer Leverkusen. However, there will probably be no transfer for the time being.

According to “sports1” Wirtz has assured Bayer Leverkusen that he will stay in the Rhineland at least until 2023. The central midfielder’s contract is valid until 2026. Nevertheless, the national player’s next step in his career is discussed again and again.

Among other things, FC Bayern is mentioned as a possible station. However, the people of Munich are apparently reserved when it comes to Wirtz. Although the record champions are interested in the 18-year-old, there are currently no plans to compete with clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

As “Sport1” suspects, Bayer Leverkusen should call for a similar transfer fee as for Kai Havertz, who switched to Chelsea in 2020 for a total of around 80 million euros. A sum that FC Bayern could not currently raise without player sales.

Will Bayer snatch Wanner away from FC Bayern?

That’s why the people of Munich would rather promote Paul Wanner. The 16-year-old made his professional debut for FC Bayern at the start of the second half of the season against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-2). In the coming years, the midfield talent is to be formed into a Bundesliga star.

The problem: Wanner’s contract ends after this season. So FC Bayern has to fear losing their hopeful youngsters – and this is where Bayer Leverkusen come into play again.

According to the TV broadcaster, the Rhinelanders have Wanner in mind as a possible Wirtz successor for 2023. Accordingly, FC Bayern must first convince its mega-talent of a contract extension.
