FC Bayern | Freund confirms Munich’s transfer efforts

With Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern has already signed a new signing in the winter. However, it is no secret that the people of Munich would still like to make further improvements. Sports director Christoph Freund has now commented on the current situation.

“It is a fact that we are still in discussions with various players,” Christoph Freund explained to “DAZN” on Sunday on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game between FC Bayern and SV Werder Bremen. “In winter it has to be right for all sides – that can still happen.”

Words that could certainly fit the supposed poker of the German record champions around Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United. In the past few hours, the media have been fueling Bayern’s interest in the Englishman, who currently plays for Newcastle United, but recently the reports have fundamentally contradicted each other.

While “Sky UK” reported on a basket for the Munich team, the “Guardian” spread that Trippier himself was pushing his move and that a deal was getting closer and closer.

FC Bayern would like to follow up

However, it is no surprise that the path to a successful transfer is rocky. Right-back Trippier is based in Newcastle and regularly leads the Magpies onto the field as captain. However, his contract ends in the summer of 2025, and at the age of 33, it will probably be the last chance for the England international to join a club from the top European shelf again.

Even if Trippier doesn’t move to Säbener Straße, Bayern will probably continue to try their luck.

“I won’t comment on names, that’s not appropriate. The position where we want to improve is clearly defined. But even if nothing happens, we won’t move a millimeter away from our goals,” explained coach Thomas Tuchel in this context on Saturday.
