FC Bayern is currently in intensive contract talks with Jamal Musiala. Bundesliga icon Stefan Effenberg believes it is right for the record champions to pull out all the guns financially.

“You’ll have to stretch, but it’s worth it,” said the 56-year-old on Sunday in the “double pass” on “Sport1”.

From his point of view, Musiala is on the verge of becoming the “face of the club”. As soon as Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer step down, the German international will be the natural successor.

Effenberg believes that an extension would ultimately be the best solution for all parties. He therefore assumes that an agreement will be reached “in the near future”.

The 21-year-old’s current working paper runs until the summer of 2026. Sports director Max Eberl recently flirted that he would like to tell Bayern fans before Christmas that Musiala is staying. Afterwards, however, the sports director rowed back a bit with a view to the timing.

Musiala currently plays for FC Bayern

According to reports, Musiala could become one of the top earners on Säbener Straße with the new contract. Around 20 million euros per season are being discussed.

It is clear to Effenberg that the youngster is currently thinking a lot about his future. It is all the more impressive that Musiala continues to perform.

After 19 appearances this season, the DFB star has 16 goal involvements across all competitions. However, Effenberg does not yet dare to compare himself with the greatest footballers in history.

“Of course he is a difference player. He proved that yesterday, he proved that in the games before that,” emphasized the former Bayern captain.

“We shouldn’t compare him with Messi or Ronaldo. He has to go there first,” said the TV expert.

Musiala came off the bench against Heidenheim (4:2) on Saturday when the score was 1:1 (51st) and scored five minutes later to take the lead and the final score (90th + 1).
