Sports board member Max Eberl once again comments on Uli Hoeneß’s 100 million dream of Florian Wirtz. He surprises with a U -turn and leaves room for interpretation.
Julian Buhl reports from Glasgow
FC Bayern covered almost 1400 flight kilometers on the trip to the playoff first leg in Glasgow. However, the German record champion also followed a topic to Scotland. After the 2-1 win on Wednesday evening at Celtic Glasgow, sports director Max Eberl was again addressed to the permanent topic of the week: speculation about a possible future change from Leverkusens Florian Wirtz to Munich.
Bavaria’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß had triggered last Tuesday when he said in an interview with T-Online: “If I can have a dream, I would say that Florian Wirtz has to go to FC Bayern. He is certainly a player we shouldn’t let out of the eye. ” And further: “If, in addition to Musiala, the Florian Wirtz may also play at Bayern at Bayern, then we can look even more calmly into the future.”
Eberl was picked up again immediately after the game in Glasgow in the mixed zone on the edge of the field. Eberl’s answer to the question of how much the topic may be surprised with a view to the direct duel with Meister Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. “We didn’t talk much about Florian Wirtz now or about any Leverkusen player,” said Eberl. “It circles around us and I just don’t think it should be opened up such a topic – especially before such a game.
Wirtz is a Bayer Leverkusen player, Eberl emphasized. “We have outstanding players in our own ranks. Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala – I could list a lot now.” Eberl tried to explain the Wirtz topic for the end for the end.
His words were at least unhappily chosen at least in the first part. After all, he left room for interpretation, who or what he meant and addressed it. His intention was probably primarily to take the journey out of the topic a little overall. After the reactions of the club managers between Munich and Leverkusen had flown back and forth almost daily in the past few days- and partly with a pointed undertone.
Board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen added the same place: “Florian Wirtz is one of the best German players-and you know how we have done it in recent years: We want the best players to be with us Uli certainly right. ” Especially since Hoeneß “said that without a time horizon”.
At Eberl, the previously unusually offensive advertising around the international in Glasgow suddenly listened much more defensively. In the end, he also made it clear where exactly he wants to steer the focus now. “We can all look forward to Saturday, the really great game.”
Wirtz and Musiala will also undoubtedly continue to focus. And the speculation about a possible association of the two Bavaria will remain an issue. Bavarians and above all Hoeneß finally opened it themselves.
