The second offer from VfB Stuttgart for a loan from Bayern goalkeeper Alexander Nübel seems to have been successful. As the “Picture” reported, the 26-year-old’s move from Munich to Swabia is nearing completion. The rumored rental fee of one million euros could therefore drop if Nübel completed many assignments at VfB.
The ex-Schalke player, who spent the past two years on loan at AS Monaco, is willing to give up his salary in Stuttgart. Most recently, Leeds United was also associated with Nübel, but the chance of Bundesliga football apparently appeals to the Paderborn native more than a potentially higher salary from the Premier League relegated team. The offer from VfB also includes a purchase option, it said on Thursday.

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth had previously confirmed Stuttgart’s interest in Nübel, but ruled out a quick decision. “Yes, we are in talks. But we are in very, very many discussions and it is the case that we end up having more discussions than contracts are then signed.” Wohlgemuth is looking for a solution that is “economically balanced and also helps immediately in the first step”. He could “curb expectations” that a new goalkeeper will join VfB in the near future.
Meanwhile, the “kicker” had reported that Oliver Baumann could become an issue at Bayern if Nübel and Yann Sommer (34) left. According to reports, coach Thomas Tuchel would like to sign an even stronger goalkeeper than the summer brought in last winter, who should compete with captain Neuer, who will probably miss the start of the season. Even before the summer transfer, Baumann is said to have played a role in the considerations of those responsible in Munich.
