Barcelona reports to have made a profit of 98 million euros over the 2021-2022 season. The Spanish top club, which has been burdened with a heavy debt burden for years, also expects a profit for the current season: 274 million euros.

The umbrella organization La Liga recently raised Barcelona’s spending limit by 800 million euros, after a successful restructuring operation. That gave the club more room to invest.

Barcelona spent a lot of money in the run-up to this season on players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Koundé. The Dutchmen Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong are also under contract with the club.

The latter was the center of a transfer soap for almost the entire summer. The Catalans wanted to sell him to free up money for other reinforcements, but De Jong did not want to leave at all. In the end he stayed and this season the Orange international is also making his minutes again.

Currently, Barcelona is second in the Spanish league, behind Real Madrid.
