“New chapter in my life”

©IMAGO

Andrés Iniesta takes up his first position as coach. The 42-year-old former professional takes over the position at Gulf United FC in the second division of the United Arab Emirates. The former world and European champion ended his active career there in 2024 after playing one season for the Emirates Club. The Spaniard then joined various clubs as a partner and strategic advisor.

His compatriot David Iglesias was most recently coach of Gulf United. Iniesta will meet, among others, the ex-Mainz player and the former Frankfurt youth player. “I’m really looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life. This is an important step to further develop myself as a coach and to bring my experience to a professional club that strongly believes in young talent. Many thanks to Gulf United FC for this opportunity. Now it’s time to work with full commitment to achieve our goals. Vamos Gulf!” wrote Iniesta on his social media channels.
