SCP-Profi’s contract ends

After FC Augsburg confirmed the signing of Leipzig talent Faik Sakar last week, those responsible are working on the next newcomer. According to a “Sky” report, the Fuggerstadt-based team would like to sign Calvin Brackelmann from SC Paderborn. Transfermarkt can confirm this according to its own information. The 26-year-old defender’s contract ends in the summer.
Brackelmann came to Paderborn from FC Ingolstadt in the summer of 2023 and developed into a regular at East Westphalia. In the current season, the 1.96 meter tall defender appeared in 21 second division games and was involved in three goals. With a market value of 1.5 million euros, the Lüneburg native is one of the most valuable second division professionals with a contract that ends in 2026. Brackelmann and Paderborn are in the middle of the promotion race with three game days to go, the lead over Hannover 96 in the relegation place is one point (to the table).
In the winter, Brackelmann was repeatedly linked to 1. FC Köln, where Lukas Kwasniok was coach. The 44-year-old, who has now been released, knows the defender from his time at SCP. A change did not take place because the transfer fee requested by Paderborn was too high for FC. Since Kwasniok’s departure, Brackelmann no longer seems to be an issue for the cathedral townspeople.
Brackelmann would expect great competition in Augsburg. Chrislain Matsima and Noahkai Banks, the two most valuable Augsburg players with a market value of 22 million euros, play in his position. In addition, the central defense is completed with captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, leading player Keven Schlotterbeck and Cédric Zesiger. Arthur Chaves, on loan, will probably return to TSG Hoffenheim.
