Recommendations of the editorial team
One icon honors the other
The song is intended as in a conscious bow to the deceased pop star. Kenny Goss, the long-time partner of the 53-year-old, said in one interview About the sample: “George would have loved that.” Goss emphasized that Michael and Swift had never met personally, but he was convinced that Michael was a fan.
Kenny herself loves the music of the singer, and although he had no idea that she was “Father Figure” for a song, be it a welcome surprise: “I am pleased that she is doing this for George”.
Goss and Michael met in 1988. The two were together for over a decade before they separated in 2009 due to their joint addiction problems. George died years later, at Christmas 2016.
New album with a show character
The Life of a Showgirl will be released on October 3, 2025 and comprises a total of twelve tracks. According to her team, it is a mixture of glittering pop, retro bonds and intimate moments-a musical balancing act between energetic stage songs and personal stories. With the reinterpretation of “Father Figure”, Taylor Swift beats a touching bridge between two pop generations.
