Fat biker with Christmas gift assaults officer, smashes through window of police bus

The driver of a fat bike hit a police bus so hard on Tuesday that an officer received glass splinters in his face. He was then punched in the jaw. The driver of the electric bicycle had a Christmas package with him and the police are looking for him.

On Tuesday something went wrong on the Galderseweg in Breda. An officer was driving around in his police van and wanted to check on the driver of a fat bike. He signaled a stop, but the man on the fat bike just kept driving. After a chase, the cyclist was stuck on Ruitersboslaan.

Glass splinters and sore jaw
The driver didn’t like that. He got off his fat bike and stormed towards the police bus. “He kicked the bus hard and then hit the window of the left door with a clenched fist, with force,” the police said. The window shattered and the officer behind the wheel received glass splinters in the face. “The aggressive man then punched the officer’s face again through the now broken window.”

The perpetrator fled, leaving the police officer with glass splinters in his face. According to his colleagues, he was ‘distressed and shocked’. His jaw also hurt.

Neighborhood survey
The next day, a 54-year-old man was arrested as a suspect, but he turned out to be innocent. That is why the police are still looking for more information. She is conducting a neighborhood investigation and is looking for camera images and witnesses. A striking detail is the Christmas package that the cyclist had with him.

The police did not provide any further characteristics of the perpetrator.
