ABOUT THE PROJECT:

With FASHION X CRAFT, the Fashion Council Germany, the Swarovski Foundation and The Prince’s Foundation want to encourage young fashion designers to think outside the box and get to know new ways of craftsmanship that strengthen their innovative thinking and include sustainable methods and materials in their future practice . The project involves a three-week residency at The Prince’s Foundation’s new educational facility in Highgrove, part of the estate of HRH The Prince of Wales in Gloucestershire, England. During their stay there, participants have the opportunity to explore craft skills in complementary disciplines such as basket weaving, decorative plaster work and wood carving. They are mentored by mentors who challenge their thinking and enable them to bridge the gap between fashion and craftsmanship. They are sensitized to sustainable, forward-looking and interdisciplinary production methods that develop a deeper appreciation for slow fashion. The educational program will also include a series of six webinars and a three-day intensive workshop on circular economy and best practices in Berlin to consolidate knowledge. During Frankfurt Fashion Week in July 2022, designers will have the opportunity to present their knowledge and new experiences to the public. All costs are covered by the Fashion Council Germany and the Swarovski Foundation.
