With the launch of Saint Laurent Productions, a registered subsidiary of the French fashion house, Saint Laurent was one of the first fashion houses to actively enter the film business.
The new division was created by creative director Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent: “I want to work with and give a space to all the great film talents that have inspired me over the years,” says the creative director. The Belgian-born fashion designer has been creative director at Saint Laurent since 2016.
To confirm its commitment, Saint Laurent Productions will be attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival from May 16th to 27th, 2023, with the Official Selection of Pedro Almodóvar’s Strange Way of Life, starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal introduce.
David Cronenberg and Paolo Sorrentino are among the writers with whom Saint Laurent Productions has additional projects in the works for future premieres. “These directors keep opening my mind, and in a way, the unique, radical vision they bring to cinema has made me who I am today,” says Vaccarello.
All of the company’s films will feature costumes designed by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent.
