Farmers’ protest makes its way through North Drenthe and stops at Eelde airport

A group of farmers and sympathizers are going through the north of the province in a procession tonight. The procession consists of three tractors, approximately fifty passenger cars and around 100 people have joined the protest.

The group started at the P+R Hoogkerk and intended to take the A7. At the last minute they decided not to do this. “I think they became a bit reluctant after they saw that the police were there,” says a bystander. The procession then left via Peize towards Eelde, where they blocked the entrance to the airport for a short time.

After about fifteen minutes the procession continued towards Glimmen. It is not known what the group’s final destination is. The police and military police accompany the protest group.
