A fire broke out in the barn of a farmhouse near Zuidwolde last night. The fire was particularly fierce on the thatched roof. A large part of the building has been reduced to ashes.
Several fire brigade teams were called around three o’clock last night to fight the raging fire on Burgemeester Tonckensstraat. They prevented the fire from spreading to the neighboring farmhouse. After that danger had passed, the fire brigade was still busy with post-extinguishing for a while.
The residents have since returned to the farmhouse. They were not injured, a spokesman for the fire service said. It is not clear how the fire started.
