Personnel planning at Borussia Dortmund is progressing. After two new defenders have already been signed, a well-known departure is now becoming more concrete.
A departure of the Swiss national soccer player Manuel Akanji at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund is becoming more and more likely. “Manuel has a contract until 2023, doesn’t want to extend it, and there’s nothing new at the moment,” future sports director Sebastian Kehl told the newspapers of the Funke media group.
The centre-back has been linked to clubs in England and Italian record champions Juventus. “We are in close contact with him and his advisor and are waiting to see what happens now,” said Kehl.
BVB has already signed national players Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck as substitutes. In order to collect a transfer fee for the 26-year-old Akanji, a change must take place this year. BVB had previously announced the departure of defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, who will leave the club after five years.
