On social media, users complain that the illustrated book is full of text errors, bad photos and designs. Swift disables all comments.
For around $40 you can purchase Taylor Swift’s accompanying book for her “Eras” tour, which runs through December 8th. A proud price that should be worth it for buyers. But many fans are now complaining on social media about the lack of quality of the work, which was sold 800,000 times in the first weekend after publication.
The “Errors tour book” causes frustration
A six-minute video from a TikTok user who discusses all the deficiencies in detail received the most attention. “We need to talk about this book,” Emily M. starts dramatically. Then she tells how she queued up in front of a department store at five in the morning on a Saturday. Like millions of other Swifties, she was greeted by a lovingly curated tour book with behind-the-scenes photos and personal accounts of her idol. They would have gotten something different.
“When I got home, I was really overwhelmed by the amount of grammatical errors I saw,” complains the 26-year-old from Washington state, “In fact, I saw so many that I seriously question whether this book was proofread at all.” She is also bothered by the headings that are placed too close to the edge of the page and are therefore cut off. Due to the many clumsy stylistic formulations and fleeting incorrectness, the book now bears the derisive name “Errors Tour Book”.
No reaction from Taylor Swift
The biggest point of criticism for Emily M. and the rest of her followers lies in the photos, which are pixelated and look like they were taken with a smartphone. Images of Swift and her dancers are also cropped so that the singer often simply disappears into the fold of the book.
The “Fortnight” singer has yet to comment on her sloppily designed product. She also deactivated comments on almost all posts on Instagram. But the shitstorm is already in full swing. Emily M. also cannot hide her disappointment at the end of her reprimand video. “I’m lucky to have the money and be able to buy it. But I know some people have been saving for this and now the have for it. Something that was a rush job, something that seemed like a quick buck grab, something that could have been much better.”
