Fan sticks finger in footballer’s butt

The result of the game against Rayo Vallecano became a minor matter for Sevilla professional Lucas Ocampos. A fan was aggressive towards the Argentine.

With a 2-1 win at Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla FC was able to gain some breathing room in the Spanish La Liga relegation battle on Monday evening. Youssef En-Nesyri brought a collective sigh of relief with a brace for the reigning Europa League winners, who were in 17th place before the game. But the topic of conversation that evening was another player. En-Nesyri’s teammate Lucas Ocampos was physically attacked by a fan.

What happened?

Just over half an hour had been played at the Estadio de Vallecas when the winger got ready for a throw-in on the touchline. Then there was an attack.

As Ocampos caught the ball and bent over slightly, a fan in the front row shoved his finger through the player’s pants and up his ass. Ocampos was visibly irritated by this, turned around and briefly confronted the young man. The game then continued.

“Take it seriously like racism”: Ocampos reacts to attack

After the game, however, the player reacted very clearly. “I’m sure you saw that in the pictures. I hope La Liga takes this as seriously as racism,” said Ocampos. “I don’t think all Rayo fans are like that because they always treated us with respect, but there is always a fool.”

Ocampos also warned of the scope of the attack and the possible consequences: “If something like this happens in women’s football, we know what can happen.” Regarding his reaction during the game, he said: “I held back because I have two daughters.” He hoped that the appropriate measures would now be taken against the perpetrator, but once again defended the other Rayo supporters: “Fools like these do not tarnish the rest of the fans who behaved very well.”

Club reacts to Ocampos incident

Meanwhile, Ocampos’ club made a statement about the scandal. “We would like to record our disgust at the incident that occurred on Monday during our match against Rayo Vallecano, in which our player Lucas Ocampos was insulted in an obscene and completely inappropriate manner by a fan of the home team,” it said Notice. The club also hopes that measures will be taken to prevent such an attack from happening again in the future.

The club also praised its player’s reaction: “We send our full support to Lucas Ocampos, who showed poise and great professionalism despite the unacceptable behavior of the fan who harassed him.” It is not yet clear whether and, if so, what punishment the fan will face.
