The away trip to Dortmund suddenly becomes a dangerous affair for some FC Bayern fans. But in the end no one gets hurt.
An FC Bayern fan bus was completely burned out on the way back from Dortmund. This is what “Bild” reports. The vehicle is said to have been only a few minutes away from its destination when the accident occurred.
What had happened? According to the report, the incident occurred in the Saxon town of Tharandt. The Rabenau fan club left for the game in Dortmund early on Saturday morning. After the game at Signal Iduna Park, which Bayern won 3-2, the group of fans headed home in their coach. 63 people are said to have been on board. A large number of them then got off in Döbeln.
Shortly before the final stop, the Tharandt bus station, there were still 20 people in the vehicle. Suddenly smoke rose from the engine compartment in the rear part of the car, which a passenger noticed. The bus driver reacted immediately and stopped the vehicle. According to “Bild”, all people were then able to leave the bus and remained uninjured.
The supporters apparently escaped a potentially life-threatening situation. Because: When the police and fire brigade arrived, the bus was already ablaze. Despite the use of extinguishing water and foam, the vehicle could no longer be saved. Nothing remained of the bus but the charred frame.
According to investigators’ initial findings, the reason for the fire was a technical defect. The investigation is ongoing, the report says.
