Instead of ten, only six Wu-Tang Clan members were on stage – despite the promised final reunion.

The Wu-Tang Clan is on its final world tour. After the concerts in Europe, they moved on to Australia to play in Melbourne and Sydney at the end of March.

However, the performances in Melbourne and Sydney were followed by some criticism of the hip-hop crew. Because the group wasn’t on stage with ten people as planned, but only with six. They had already announced via Instagram that Method Man would not make it to Australia. It wasn’t clear to fans beforehand that Raekwon, Cappadonna and Young Dirty Bastard wouldn’t be at the shows either.

Chaotic performance disappoints the audience

This is particularly disappointing with “The Last Chambers”, the highly announced last tour in which all members were scheduled. In addition, the performance of many songs was mediocre, according to “The AU Review”: “It seemed chaotic and confusing as the members got in each other’s way while trying to fill in for others.” Many listeners left the gig disappointed.

It is not unusual for not all band members to appear at concerts – be it due to illness or internal disputes. What exactly was behind the failures of the Wu-Tang Clan members remained unknown. However, Method Man had already missed out on tours in previous years – making the fans’ disappointment even greater.

At least: tickets fully refunded

Ticket service Ticketek offered full refunds to showgoers in Melbourne and Sydney. Normally line-up changes are covered by the T&Cs and tickets do not need to be refunded. However, since the tour was advertised as the last reunion with all founding members and almost half of the group was missing, the ticket costs were still refunded.

Such refunds are rare but not impossible. For example, there was a huge wave of paybacks when AC/DC singer Brian Johnson had to drop out of the tour in 2016 due to health reasons and was replaced by Axl Rose. When Zayn Malik left the boy band One Direction in 2015, they played the remaining shows in Manila and Jakarta as a four-piece – but in this case the costs were not reimbursed.

Concerts are usually completely canceled or postponed in advance in order to avoid negative reactions from fans. After all, they buy tickets to see the entire band – and not just part of it.
