The 61-year-old actress Famke Janssen behaved very grumpy and cold to Herald Adolfs years ago, his lover Carlo Boszhard reveals. “She wasn’t really cheerful and warm.”

Famke Janssen is not exactly the biggest smiley face in the showbiz world. She always looks very serious, although that may also have to do with the overdose of Botox that is injected into her face every other weekend. Or is it her character? The latter, as Carlo Boszhard reveals in his column for the Television.

The Famke

He is not a warm person, Carlo knows. His friend Herald Adolfs has met and spoken to her. “His first international job at his first employer Shownieuws was an interview with Famke Janssen in New York,” he says in the Television.

“He still talks about how he flew to the Big Apple without a credit card, so he couldn’t check in at the hotel and as a young journalist he had to wait for Famke Janssen with licorice and a clog key ring.”

Not cheerful

Carlo states that it became a cold conversation. “She wasn’t really cheerful or warm, but the people around her said afterwards that this was the best interview, because she really laughed for a moment!”

In other words: that woman normally never smiles, Carlo wants to say. What is it like working with that woman? Victor Löw knows this, who, like Famke, plays in the new Netflix series Amsterdam Empire. “Very good. She is a very intelligent woman, she carries the series with verve,” he says in the Weekend.

Smiley face

Victor does confirm the impression that Famke is not a smiley face. When asked why he notices that she has a lot of experience, he answers: “She is very serious. Once we feel at home on a set, we like to have a good time. Lots of laughing and chatting just before ‘action’ is said.”

“With Famke you always felt: that’s possible, but we have to make it through the day. Because that’s what film is all about. In the morning I said: ‘Hey, we’re going to start again guys! Hupsakee!’ And then Famke responded: ‘Yes, yes. Joy afterwards, first the day!”

Socialize

Sometimes Victor would make a complimentary or friendly comment to Famke, but then he would come home from a rude awakening. “’Yes, yes,’ she says. ‘We’re three hours behind! Hahaha!’”

Is that the American mentality? “Yes. It is also true: at a certain point the energy runs out and then all those scenes have to be done. Because it costs a lot of money, every day together. She is right: you cannot afford to lose a lot of energy on socializing and having fun.”
