Family and friends of the baseball player will say goodbye in a private circle next Thursday. A day earlier, on Wednesday, a meeting is organized in the sports hall at the baseball club Amsterdam Pirates. In addition, there is a commemoration at the Loek Loevendie Ballpark, where De Jong was active as a player and coach for many years.
The family calls on people who go to the memorial not to bring flowers or floral arrangements, but to make a donation instead. The amount raised will be temporarily managed by the KNBSB until the establishment of the Sidney de Jong Foundation is complete.
