Family of cameraman Hutchins accidentally shot to death file lawsuit against Baldwin

The husband of cameraman Galina Hutchins, who was accidentally shot by actor Alec Baldwin on the set of a film in New Mexico, filed a lawsuit. About it informs Los Angeles Time, citing lawyers for the family of the deceased.

Lawyers filed a lawsuit in New Mexico First District Court on behalf of Hutchins’ 39-year-old husband Matthew and their 9-year-old son Andros. The defendants were actor Alec Baldwin, Rust Movie Productions LLC, 3rd Shift Media, Thomasville Pictures and the producers of Rust. In addition, the lawsuit is against first assistant director David Hall, gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez Reed, prop maker Sarah Zachry, and weapons supplier Seth Kenny of PDQ Arm & Prop.

The family accuses Baldwin and other defendants of not following basic safety rules when using real weapons. In addition, the producers of the film knew about the insufficient qualifications of the gunsmith, the lawsuit says.

According to actor Dyer’s lawyer Aaron, Baldwin and other members of the team believed the gunsmiths’ words that the weapon would not fire.
