Family film Knor awarded Golden Film

After three Golden Calves, the animation film ‘Knor’ can also add a Golden Film Award to the list of honours. The Dutch stop motion animation has attracted 100,000 visitors, the Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) announced on Tuesday.

The animation film is about the girl Babs, who receives the pig Knor from her grandfather from America for her ninth birthday. Her parents are not so happy about that, but Babs can keep the animal on the condition that Knor follows a puppy course. But then grandpa secretly turns out to have other plans with Knor.

oink is directed by Mascha Halberstad. Jelka van Houten, Henry van Loon and Kees Prins, among others, have provided voices for the film. Last year, the animated film won the Golden Calf for Best Film and was chosen as the Dutch entry for the Oscar for best long animation.

The Golden Film Award is an initiative of the Netherlands Film Festival with support from the Abraham Tuschinski Fund. oink is the second film to receive the honor this year, Hotel Sinestra was the first.
