A woman believed she was writing to the real Pitt, but it was an AI fake who was cheating her out of money.
A French woman named Anne fell for an internet scam in which an artificial intelligence posed as US star Brad Pitt, who fell in love with her but also repeatedly demanded large sums of money from her – for a wide variety of things, among other things for cancer treatment.
“He knew how to talk to women”
The betrayed woman gave an interview to “Seven to Eight” in which she spoke extensively about what happened. She revealed that the fake version of Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane Etta Pitt, initially contacted her via social media and explained to her that she was exactly the woman her son needed. After the Frenchwoman responded, messages kept coming from the fake Brad Pitt, who wanted to know more about her, sent her poems and already told her that he loved her and wanted to marry her.
“There are only a few men who write to you like that. I liked the man I spoke to. He knew how to talk to women and it was very well worded,” she said in a statement to French media. At the time, the 53-year-old interior decorator was in the midst of a divorce and was receptive to new things. She continued: “This is Brad Pitt we’re talking about and I was stunned. At first I thought it was fake, but I didn’t really understand what was happening to me.”
Angelina Jolie’s bank accounts frozen?
The affected person repeatedly received new fake photos and evidence (including his ID) via WhatsApp and social media, so that she should feel confirmed in her belief that she was dealing with the real actor. And he always wanted cash from her – especially a lot for the medical costs that were piling up due to his cancer treatment. The AI lie: He couldn’t raise enough money because Pitt’s ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, had his bank accounts under control and had frozen them. Even the celebrity’s supposed doctor is said to have spoken to the Frenchwoman and spoke of a case of life and death. Ultimately, the AI fraud was used to steal over 800,000 euros.
Police are investigating
As early as the summer of 2024, the woman discovered that she was not the real star. The reason for this: The media showed the mimes hand in hand with his new partner, Ines de Ramon. The police are now investigating the case and trying to find out who exactly is behind the fraud.
