Faeser wants to abolish the obligation to register in hotels for Germans

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has proposed abolishing the obligation to register in hotels. As the “Spiegel” reported on Friday, this should only apply to German citizens. Foreigners should therefore continue to be obliged to fill out a registration form in hotels and other accommodation facilities. So far, you have also been required to identify yourself to the hotel staff.

In the course of the efforts to reduce bureaucracy announced by the traffic light government, the Federal Ministry of Justice had asked all departments for concrete proposals on how citizens and companies could be relieved. Under the black-red federal government, the Third Bureaucracy Relief Act on January 1, 2020 created the possibility of paperless registration via a digital hotel ticket./abc/DP/ngu
