With the farewell of the Spanish coach, the company thinks about the compatriot of Como to replace it

Months of waiting and uncertainty, which they also affected the Bayer Leverkusen season. Now, however, the decision has arrived: Xabi Alonso will leave the German club with which he won a championship (the first of the company’s history), a German cup (the second) and a German super cup (the first). In fact, three of the five titles won by Leverkusen in history bear the signature of the Spaniard. The clues seem to direct it to Madrid (he has been flirting for some time with Real …), but the official communication has not yet arrived. “It was emotionally difficult to leave the boys,” said Xabi Alonso that on Friday afternoon he announced his farewell to the team. However, the club has long been evaluating some profiles to replace it. “My role is to be found prepared for numerous theoretical eventualities,” said CEO Simon Rolfesto. At the top of the list there is Fabregas, who did very well in Italy with Como.

The alternatives

Curiously Fabregas and Xabi have shared the locker room for years, winning two European and a world championship with the Spanish national team. The Como technician has already faced some interviews with the managers of Leverkusen, arousing an excellent impression. Fabregas, for its part, would have the advantage of training a team that already has a Spanish philosophy. President Fernando Carro is his compatriot, as well as many other employees. The inclusion of Fabregas would therefore be easier in Leverkusen than elsewhere. Tizza also is Ten Hag, but after the experience at Manchester Unites he has very different economic claims from Fabregas. In Leverkusen there is also about Xavi, but his profile does not completely convince. Already by the end of May the club wants to have clear ideas about the next coach.
