Red Bull by Isack Hadjar the result in the qualifying sessions of the GP of Miami has been rejected.
Instead of the ninth grid, Hadjar has to start today’s competition from the pits.
The bottom plate of Hadjar’s car was found to be in violation of the rules during the inspection after qualifying. According to Fia, the bottom plate had worn two millimeters beyond the tolerance limit.
In its hearing, Red Bull did not deny the excessive wear of the bottom plate, but the team assured that it did not seek a performance advantage.
In recent years, excessive wear of the base plate has been the subject of warranty rejection. Last year it was to decide the world championship when both McLarens were abandoned after the Las Vegas race.
With the penalty, Hadjar’s preparations for the competition, which starts at 20:00 today, became considerably more difficult.
