In 2019, Ajax and Telstar also faced each other in the cup. Then the Velsen team made it particularly difficult for Ajax at the packed Schoonenberg sports park. Ajax eventually won 4-3 and reached the final that season, which they lost 2-0 against FC Utrecht.
The last time that both clubs met in an official match in the Arena was in February 2002. In the quarter-finals, the then Stormvogels/Telstar met that season’s cup sensation Jong Ajax.
