Over the next three years, the National Center for Sexual Violence Foundation (LCSG) can count on more than 1.1 million euros. This is a doubling of the basic amount for 2023. The extra money results from the Van der Laan/Van der Werf motion on strengthening the national function of the Sexual Violence Center.
The Sexual Violence Center (CSG) is a place where victims of an unpleasant sexual experience – online or offline – can get the help they need: forensic, medical and psychological help. The Ministry of Justice and Security and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport have joined forces to make additional resources available so that the LCSG can further strengthen its core tasks in the coming years.
The National Sexual Violence Center has a total of 16 locations, spread across the Netherlands. At the CSG, a team of doctors, nurses, police and other care providers work together to provide specialist care to victims of sexual violence. Since the existence of the Sexual Violence Center, there has been an annual increase in the number of victims who report there for help. This requires extra effort from the National Center for Sexual Violence Foundation to manage this properly. The extra money will strengthen the LCSG and allow it to better tailor its assistance to the trends and developments among the victims who come knocking.
Parallel to this strengthening, an evaluation process is also being designed in order to make a decision in 2026 on a sustainable structure for the LCSG and how to finance it.
