Explosive rumors about Robert Lewandowski’s “expulsion clause”.

Former Bayern star Robert Lewandowski is running after his top form in the current season. In Spain there has been several speculations about his departure from FC Barcelona in recent weeks. Now explosive rumors are doing the rounds that the Catalans can unilaterally terminate the striker’s contract.

Will FC Barcelona send Robert Lewandowski out thanks to a special “kick-out clause”? This has been discussed in Spain since this week after the radio station “Cadena Ser” claimed to have found out about the existence of the clause in question.

The contract stipulates that Barca can unilaterally terminate the contract with the ex-Bayern star if he plays fewer than 55 percent of the competitive games in a season. Given the thin staffing level in the Catalans’ attack, there is no danger of this happening this season, but Lewy could become a benchwarmer in 2024/25 if Vitor Roque (18), who has already been signed, overtakes him.

Lewandowski is getting more expensive every year

The financially troubled Spanish champions could seek a Lewandowski separation, especially from an economic perspective. When he arrived in the summer of 2022, the Pole agreed with the club on an annual salary increase. This means that the 35-year-old costs more “maintenance” from season to season.

He is currently expected to earn 10 million euros net, 13 million in 2024/25 and 16 million in 2025/26. A salary that Barca can’t actually afford – especially if Lewandowski doesn’t perform as expected on the pitch.

The ex-Munich player currently has nine goals in 20 competitive games, but those responsible expect more. The Pole ended his first season in Spain with 33 goals in 46 competitive games.
