Explosive on door handle: two more men arrested

The police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Baarle-Nassau and a 39-year-old man of no fixed abode. They would be involved in placing an explosive on a door handle at a house on Stephanusdonk in Roosendaal. Two other men were previously arrested.

On April 6, 2021, a suspicious package was found at the house on Stephanusdonk. Some homes were evacuated as a precaution. The Defense Explosives Clearance Service (EOD) investigated and soon found out that it was actually an explosive. The EOD took that to another location and destroyed it there.

Camera images later showed that two perpetrators, dressed in dark hooded clothes, hung an explosive device on the door handle. Then one of the two threw a stone through a window of the house. These images were shown in Bureau Brabant on April 19, in the hope of receiving tips about the perpetrators.

In June last year, this already led to the occasion of a 53-year-old from Breda and a 45-year-old Roosendaal. They have since been released, but are still considered suspects. The role of the two men who have now been arrested is still being investigated.

This is how the explosive was placed.
