Explosive fire in Waalwijk apartment complex, 3 people to hospital

A blazing fire raged in an apartment complex on the Eerste Zeine in Waalwijk on Saturday night. The fire was discovered around 4 a.m.

One apartment was completely burned out, a second apartment suffered significant damage. The fire continued to rage there, according to firefighters. The ‘fire master’ signal was given at around five o’clock in the morning.

Woman with dog rescued from balcony
The apartment complex, which consists of eight apartments, was quickly evacuated due to the fire. “A woman was taken from the balcony with her dog,” a 112 correspondent saw

Four residents inhaled quite a bit of smoke. One of them also had burns. Immediate medical care is arranged for them. Three people were taken to hospital by ambulance. “The impact on the residents is great,” said a spokesperson for the fire service.

Rear end
Flames shot from the back of one of the apartments. Because there was no wind, the smoke rose in a straight line and the smoke nuisance for the environment was limited, according to the fire service spokesperson.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
