The incident happened around 8.20 pm. This is now standing still because the electricity had to be removed. The safety region reports that four people were treated on site by ambulance personnel, one person was transported to the hospital.
Train still full of travelers
“We try to map out exactly what happened,” explains a spokesperson for the Security Region to NH. According to her, the train is full of travelers who can’t get out. “The train has a high trip, so it is not easy to let people out of it. Moreover, the train is on a part where it is difficult to reach for emergency services.”
Although the Security Region initially did not want to exclude that there was intent, it turned out to be an explosion in an electricity cabinet. The electricity cabinet was behind a wall and at the explosion a part of that wall jumped away, causing a person to be wounded.
According to the spokesperson, it seemed that a fire broke out on the train after the explosion, but that was not the case. According to her, there is ‘a lot of smoke on the train’.

According to a witness, travelers are currently being evacuated to another train. According to him, the train where the explosion took place was ‘quite full’. Around 9.30 pm a second evacuation train was used to further transport the stranded travelers, the safety region reports.
