An explosion blew out the facade of a house in Assen this afternoon. The house on the industrial estate on Greecelaan was therefore full of smoke, after which a fire also broke out.
After a passerby reported a lot of smoke at the back of the house, the fire brigade responded. No one was present in the house at the time, says a spokesperson for the Drenthe Security Service. “The fire brigade will also remain present for a while to extinguish the fire.”
The spokesperson cannot yet confirm whether there was intent. “We have established a crime scene to investigate the cause of the explosion,” the spokesperson said.
Enexis is present to shut off the gas pipes. The damage makes the house uninhabitable for the time being.
