After the huge bang, there was a lot of fear. “We all have small children, so you wonder if it is safe,” says a neighbor. The explosion also damaged cars and neighbors’ homes.
Another neighbor had to remove the debris from her garden this morning, which lay across the street. “I was very shocked and immediately went outside last night. Fortunately, the fire brigade arrived quickly,” she says.
The woman says she has had trouble sleeping for some time. “There has been a fuss there for some time, so I was afraid something was going to happen.”
Debt everywhere
This is what more neighbors say, who only want to talk about it anonymously for fear of their own safety. “He had a lot of arguments and debts to others,” says one. “He has also borrowed money from me and not given it back.”
Another: “I lent him money, but then heard that I should not have done that. I am happy that I was able to get a house and prefer to stay as far away from here as possible.”
A number of neighbors hope that last night was the final straw and the Ymere housing association will evict the man from his home. In any case, that house is currently uninhabitable. Ymere could not be reached for comment today.
More explosions
Several explosions have taken place in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in recent days. Windows were also broken in Nieuw-Vennep yesterday. Last Saturday, a house in Hoofddorp was shot at, after which an explosive went off that night.
