Explosion at home on IJburg, part of Franz Zieglerstraat closed off for investigation

An explosive went off at a house in IJburg, a neighborhood in Amsterdam, this evening. That happened at a house on Franz Zieglerstraat. The police have cordoned off part of the street and are currently investigating.

Local residents suddenly heard a loud bang around 8:30 p.m. Emergency services then went to the house. It turned out at the scene that no one had been injured. A window in the home was damaged.

After the explosion, a witness saw someone running away in the direction of Pampuslaan. The police would like more information about this person and ask people who have seen something to report it. Camera images are also welcome, the police say.
