This explosion happened around 4.35 am this morning in the neighborhood along the Oosttangent. The window and door were destroyed in the blast. There are shards of glass in the backyard, where there is also a children’s scooter. The fence has been partially blown out.

A couple with a young child lives in the house, and other people live above it. The residents were not at home, but their dog was. He wasn’t injured.

A local resident who is assessing the damage says: “My wife was sitting up in bed last night when the explosion went off, she was shocked. The whole neighborhood wants to know what is going on. It is annoying for the people who live above or next door . It was a really hard blow.”

An investigation was immediately launched by Team Explosive Exploration (TEV) and Forensic Investigation of the police. The police are looking for witnesses. They are asked for CCTV footage of the explosion or the perpetrators.

The family’s car has already been vandalized in the past year. Their car was set on fire a second time, presumably with fireworks. That was on the Burgplantsoen, a stone’s throw from the house on the Sluis. No arrests were made at that time, police said. Why this family has been targeted for the third time is still part of the police investigation.
