Residents in the vicinity of the main road in Amsterdam-West were startled last night by an explosion at the front door of a hair salon. The explosion caused a fire to break out in the building.
Police were notified after residents heard a loud bang just after 3 a.m. Not much later it turned out to be an explosion at a barbershop. The fire that broke out was quickly brought under control.
Several buildings were damaged by the explosion. A number of residents who live above the barbershop were removed from their homes as a precaution. Not long after, it turned out that they could return safely. Police are currently still investigating the explosion.
